The Brief:
Kimbolton School is an independent co-educational day and boarding school. We were asked to look at all areas of the school but especially target areas lighting could be improved and at the same time provide an acceptable return on investment. We chose the sports hall for its high energy usage and long hours and also the squash courts as they were very costly from a maintenance viewpoint.
The Solution:
In the sports hall we replaced the 400 Watt metal halide lighting with our 120 Watt LED highbay unit on a like for like basis. We used a 5000k white colour temperature to give a cleaner whiter appearance. The current sodium lighting was very warm and quite orange in appearance and so the improvement in light quality was significant. In the squash courts we used the same LED product to replace the existing 6ft T10 fluorescent and managed to achieve even better results.
